A long time ago, about 1949, I began "wittlin" with about six or seven other guys at the St. Paul, Minnesota playgrounds. I was carving five nights a week at the playgrounds, and sometimes on Saturday mornings at the Public Safety (with the bad kids who were on probation - at one time they had about 15 to 20 kids that would come and go). We learned wood carving with a guy named Butch who was from Austria. All of our products are carefully crafted - hand carved and painted -
by hand. The tools we use are a pocket knife, sandpaper and a lot of elbow
grease. I use white pine for the bodies of the birds and bass wood for
the birds' wings. My wife supplies the creativity when it comes to painting
the birds. After the hard carved ducks, geese, loons and pheasants are
painted we spray with two coats of a urethane varnish. |

What are customers have to say about our hand carved
loons, ducks, geese & more! I purchased six of your mallard ducks for our sportsman
club and wanted you to let you know the guys love them. We'll be purchasing
more of the ducks for our fall party. Jim, DM, Iowa. |
