We take pride in hand carving ducks, hand carving geese and other birds. We then take the time to texturize and hand paint these birds to make each item unique. Nothing is done on an assembly line!

A long time ago, about 1949, I began "wittlin" with about six or seven other guys at the St. Paul, Minnesota playgrounds. I was carving five nights a week at the playgrounds, and sometimes on Saturday mornings at the Public Safety (with the bad kids who were on probation - at one time they had about 15 to 20 kids that would come and go). We learned wood carving with a guy named Butch who was from Austria.

All of our products are carefully crafted - hand carved and painted - by hand. The tools we use are a pocket knife, sandpaper and a lot of elbow grease. I use white pine for the bodies of the birds and bass wood for the birds' wings. My wife supplies the creativity when it comes to painting the birds. After the hard carved ducks, geese, loons and pheasants are painted we spray with two coats of a urethane varnish.

What are customers have to say about our hand carved loons, ducks, geese & more!
We purchased a pair of loons at a craft show in Black Duck. They look great on our living room wall. We'll be back for more! Denise & Dan, Maplewood, MN

I bought a pair of your loons for my husband who has everything. We put them in our family room in our lake cabin. now we look at the lons on teh wall and watch and hear the loons out on the lake. Nancy & Ron, Balsam Lake, WI

I purchased six of your mallard ducks for our sportsman club and wanted you to let you know the guys love them. We'll be purchasing more of the ducks for our fall party. Jim, DM, Iowa.
